![]() Infantry wise Rome only has to worry about Epirus to the north which are really weak while Carthage has east and west to worry about infantry and navy from the north. Furthermore, Carthage has Egypt to the east of them and Rome to the north. Carthage is spread out which requires a strong army AND navy. Or one where your cities are close to each other. Corners, islands, or peninsulas are the best starting position. They are basically like Seleucids / Egypt but with less variety and a weaker starting position.Ĭarthage does not have the best starting position. Originally posted by Swaggaccino:They would be either 6/7/8. Then there are some less important things like strong trade position, one of the best navies and so on. Sure, top tier troops aren't as strong as some other nation ones, but whoever bases their tier rating on who fields the best elites has, as far as I am concerned, not really figured out what this game is about. A very well balanced own unit roster which has about everything except for horse archers. If you really commit to having mercs Carhage can make them about as cheap as regulars actually.ģ. Cheaper mercenaries let you fill any holes you might have in your roster and instantly replace losses on the campaign. All directions are pretty much viable and you have the troops and the economy to back it up.Ģ. You can just expand into Iberia, Egypt or crush Rome outright instead. Rome is your sole natural enemy and your fleet will have no issues holding this single threat at bay. There is just no other faction in the game which has as strong a defensive postion as Carthage. You can basically gobble up your client states and your holdings in Africa are unassailable as long as you keep your navy strong. It is at least in the top 3 and far superior to Rome.ġ. Iceni has a good starting position but it's literally in a corner. Sparta has been nerfed massively in Rome 2. Baktria is just baby Seleucids (way less variety but a better starting position) Macedon (simple faction with great starting position and alliances) Boii (cheap sword rushes and heavy horses)ĥ. Egypt (like a Seleucid clone with slightly less variety but slightly better starting position)Ĥ. Rome (all around best everything but lacks the depth of Seleucid)ģ. Hell throw in an elephant unit to completely distract 5 of their units.Ģ. All you have to do is stack pikemen who will always hold the lines and flank with shock cav or chariots. Good missile and melee infantry and cavalry to annoying the hell out of your opponent The absolute best pikes (silver shield) which Rome lacks That being said, if you can survive that onslaught, Selecuids have way more potential then Rome. Meanwhile Seleucids have to face off against Egypt and a number of other factions. They are in a very defendable area surrounded by weak factions that allows them to grow and expand their economy. The only reason why everyone thinks Rome is better is due to their starting position. I honestly think the Seleucids have more depth then Rome.
